THE WORDS….

It’s always been a pleasure to recollect how I came to know about a few words in English since I started learning the language ……. [Remember my first English poem ??! Hot cross buns in my 3^rd Standard when English was first introduced as a subject , Rock a bye baby on the tree top in my 6^th Standard being the  first poem of High School Education, The Daffodils in Higher Secondary ]

DILEMMA

A cartoon story about a Dracula … published in Kumudam magazine during my High School Days…The Dracula disguised as a nurse would hesitate to take blood from our Hero, when its counterpart would ask why it hesitates to do so…The Dracula’s reply “I’m in Dilemma” First ever difficult vocabulary….which put us girls in dilemma….. A classmate got the meaning for this word from her neighbour.

DUMMY

Yet another crime thriller story studied during my High School days, where a person pretended to be killed and thrown down the mountains , was found to be alive. The police finds his “Dummy” was thrown which was noticed by some tourists ..which was  informed to the police. Had a chance to know about the dummies used in the making of cinemas.

ANXIOUS , ANTICIPATION

A letter received from a friend stated that the friend was “Anxious” to know about me and waiting for my reply in “Anticipation “ . I penned the friend to relieve from the anxious anticipation, which happened during my Higher Secondary days.

2K BUCKS

During the college days of my daughter, I received an SMS stating “Please send me 2k bugs”  I was annoyed and horrified  what  2k  and Bugs mean? Why being an Under Graduate in “Fashion Technology” she needed Bugs ….

Called her to find out the message was typed by one of her friends .. Learnt from her “k” relates to Thousand and Not bugs its “Bucks”

Sent her 5k Bugs sorry Bucks to comfort her…(or me??!) which motivated me to enter into the “Young World” or “Youth World “ can I say?

CHECK AND BILL

During my last visit to US,  while in a Restaurant with daughter’s family ,  heard Son in law telling daughter to collect the “Check” to pay the “Bills” (Cheque = check , Bill  = Dollar)

[In India we collect Bill after eating in restaurant and pay cheque/cash ]

DILIGENT AND METICULOUS

A friend of mine told she had been reading my write ups diligently(of course , not now I guess) and the other friend commented that  my work is meticulous .

P.S:  My anxious anticipation right away , is whether the  diligent followers of mine would be placed in dilemma whether to like this write up of  mine, which is worth  2k million bucks to me or will scroll up this meticulous thing of mine in dilemma thinking it to be something Dummy and not worth a Bill to be honoured with a check.
