Learning is an art that enlightens a person with
knowledge and skill combined with
facts and figures. This process should take place throughout our lifetime,
which can be explained with the help of a proverb used in the southern part of
India, which can roughly be translated as “the knowledge we have gained so far
is equal to
a handful of sand particles and the balance to learn is the size of the world”.
Try to learn something each
day, which is loaded with umpteen new things. Listen to your
surroundings, people, books, children and every source possible to equip
yourself with knowledge and skill. While listening, you learn new things than
speaking out what you already know.
Learn in-depth whatever
you learn and without doubt. After you have done that, know to apply and live
according to what you have learnt, explains the couplet written by the great
poet “Thiruvalluvar”. Getting educated
about electrical gadgets in depth and not knowing to fix a fuse is not any use in real-time.
Few examples to support my point of view are explained here.
Reduce the flame of the stove when the water or soup starts boiling and see what
happens to the liquid. Even with the reduced flame, the water or soup continues
to boil. Here comes the thermostat principle.
Never try to hit an object harder, as you are sure to be hit back with
the equal force you had exerted. Oh my God!! Isn’t it Newton’s third law of
motion we learned in high school??
Every child grows up with many short stories with a moral in
it. A child must be taught and guided to associate what had been acquired from
the stories to the real life situations. Develop the child to learn in-depth
and make sure the child adopts the
principle of learning is for life and not for grades.
With the advent of technology
and science, upgrading ourselves has become a must to keep pace with the world
and be knowledgeable about the day-to-day happenings
in every field and become competitive. Learning is a must for all ages.
Applying our learning may not be immediate
in every case.
There is a classical example of Steve Jobs who took up
calligraphy course during his graduation and used his knowledge about fonts later, while developing the personal computer,
thereby passing on his knowledge to the world.
Wait for the requisite situation to apply your knowledge and skill.
Erudition makes a man inventive, imaginative, resourceful,
matured, cultured, creative with innumerable ideas and projects him as a
confident personality. The art of learning makes a man perfect and induces him
to think big. It is an excellent wealth that cannot be destroyed, neither by
fire, nor by men. In a nutshell, never stop learning and cease to think what
you learn is for life. Let us love to learn and live as learned.
True... Learning is continuous process n not just end with schooling or a degree or two.... Nice quotes and examples... :-)
